Thousands of years ago, a young priestess in Egypt found a piece of Soul Edge in a temple she was praying in. The piece made her very powerful, and others soon believed she was the reincarnation of the goddess Isis. She ruled with a cruel hand for many years, never seeming to grow older. Finally, her followers led a revolt against her, locking her in a sarcophagus and burying her in a tomb where no one could find her. The piece of Soul Edge kept her alive and young, but in a deep sleep that lasted for centuries. She was awakened when she sensed Soul Edge, escaped her tomb, and began the search for it. She plans to use it to not only rule Egypt once more, but the entire world. During one of her long slumbers, her shard of the Soul Edge was taken from her. This caused her body to begin to decay. She has no choice to journey in her weakening form to find a way to preserve herself.

Finding no way to restore herself, Isis wandered into a dense wood known as the Forest of Shadows. She was preparing herself for her eventual death, her body literally decaying. She began to feel herself being pulled deeper into the forest, led by an unknown force. Her failing sight caused her to stumble directly into a slanted wall of smooth black stone. It was covered mostly by overgrowth, but she could just make out a black pyramid in front of her. As she placed her hand on the stone, a doorway seemed to dissolve in front of her. She stumbled along a tall corridor. Along the corridor were what she recognized as Hieroglyphics, but they were strange and she could not make them out. The corridor ended in a huge chamber. In the middle of the chamber was a large empty Sarcophagus made what appeared to be the same black stone the Pyramid was made of. What was even stranger was that the Sarcophagus was opened, and seemed to have been made for a being more than twice the height of a human. Finding it hard to breathe, she knew that her body was just about to give out. She climbed into the Sarcophagus, seeing as it was as good of a place as any to die. The second she laid down, the lid closed by itself. A strong electrical-like energy coursed through her. The pain was excruciating, and she passed out. When she came to, the lid was open. She felt strange, and she brought her hand up to her face. She then notice her dark bronzed flesh was restored, as was her body. She began to laugh, almost hysterically. This mysterious place had restored her. And not only restored her, she finds that its given her powers that surpassed the ones she had when she possessed the shard of the Soul Edge. She ran out the the Pyramid, and began to climb the side to the top. As she stood on the top, she swore that this place would be the center of her new empire, and it will be greater than the one she had many centuries before. As she gazed into the distance, she saw what she choose as her first conquest, the enigmatic fortress known as the Black Citadel.
