- Tanleeseng for Soul Calibur BD Costume 3
Profile
Spica Raghia Andromeda is a vate1 White Harlot from Gi'on, Yasaka. She is the daughter of Honami. Her true name is Manaka Houshou (宝精 愛華 Houshou Manaka).
The Vate Mystics2 of the Lost Illusion3 has given her the title of Celestial Maiden4: She was tasked to travel to Aistear Creidimh in order to wish for an equal world for vate and other races. On her journey, she met an aes'sidhe named Sleipial, and a trojan named Rudolph.
She has a long rubine red hair, which split in the middle-back. Her left eye is bright rubine red, while her right eye is bright sapphire. Her heavy weight and her three size (106-64-96) are often become intriguing subjects among her friends. She is very feminine and always wears a skirt with any of her outfits. While kind, she is far from being the sharpest mind when it comes to puzzles. In battle, Spica wields a feather mantle, which boosts her buffing power. She is not proficient in fighting, however.
Spica can make various dishes, but the best she can is vinegared rice combined with other raw ingredient, usually fish. While her party members praise the simple and fresh taste, Perseonn is always bothered to eat the raw fish. When idling in towns, she will visit the town's Vate Temple and perform her task as the Celestial Maiden to collect money for the party. She makes the most money among all party members.
Spica's journey represents herself by the choices that she makes. She is in an unresolved situation as a result of choices made in the past. She can choose either to ignore it or to change it and take full responsibility for the consequences.
Spica's name was taken from the brightest star in Virgo Constellation. Her last name is taken from my last name. Her true name is taken from a character in a certain Illusion game. She is 37 years old (by vate age reckoning) during the event of Requiem of the Twilight Star, 155 cm tall and weighs 64 kg.
1 | Vate (語姫 Katarihime, lit. "talking princess") is race that belongs to the Vines superfamily. They appear as a female humanoid with pale skin; varied hair and eye color; chrysanthemum-shaped birth tattoos covering their left shoulder, back, to right thigh; a flower on their head, and vines instead of ears. |
2 | Vate Mystics (語姫仙女 Katarihime Sen'nyo) are three entities who vates consider as the second-rank supreme being, below the Sacred Mother of Creation (創造聖母 Souzou Seibou). |
3 | Lost Illusion (失われた幻想 Ushinawareta Gensou) is a faith of worshiping vate deities. For them, a sexual intercourse is equal to praying. |
4 | Celestial Maiden (天津之乙女 Amatsu-no-Otome) is a vate appointed by the Mystics, to carry a faith-based order. The reasoning of the appointment is unknown, but is considered a great honor. |

Author Notes
Spica's design point differs as her concept matures. Previously, she was a 19 years old human swordslady with moderate height (165 cm), her design point involves small armor, cape, skirt, and ribbon belt. In 2013, her fighting capability was removed and replaced with a support spellcaster. In 2016, her age was significantly increased to be 15 years older than Renn, i.e. old enough to be his mother.
Now, she is 37 years old vate support caster with short height (155 cm), and her design points are her flower tattoo, her sultry hairstyle (refer to カスタムメイド3D2 on the Alternate Media section below), a mole near the left of her mouth, and a silhouette that more less forms a teardrop. Her body shape also changed from typical young adult to voluptuous and chubby.
Young Adult, Elferris Knight (Former)
Soulcalibur III Costume 1 is the debut of this concept, later updated to Soulcalibur IV Costume 2. This was where it was abandoned and later make appearance as Scherazard's main costume. The Soulcalibur IV Costume 2 is her formal costume when she isn't wearing her armor.
Young Adult, Sorceress Blade (Former)
This is the "evil" counterpart of the Elferris costume, first appear in Soulcalibur III Costume 2, later serve as the base for her Soulcalibur IV Costume 1 and is remade for nostalgia points on Soulcalibur V Costume 7.
The Broken Destiny Costume 1 to 3 was more less ports of her Soulcalibur IV costumes based on this concept. Costume 1 was swaps the Hunter's Suit for Belle's Disguise and it worked well. Costume 2 was made by Naufal Dana, which was a bit bare for my taste and her colors are straight glowing instead of alluring. I tweaked the colors from White and Red to Red and Black and give her a top. Costume 3 was made by Tanleeseng, who successfully capture the essence of Spica's clothing, although the hot pants are downright off. Still, I can pretend that it is a short skirt. Thanks, Tan!
In Soulcalibur V, this outfit is represented as Costume 6 (previously, this was Costume 1) and Costume 5. Costume 6 was given color update from plain white to a more flowery-themes.
Although abandoned, the look itself is later given to Buster Wolf's Fantasy Warriors counterpart. Her Soulcalibur IV Costume 3 is meant to be a night-time version of this concept. It was an odd choice back then.
Young Adult, White Harlot (Former)
Soulcalibur V costume 2 was the transtition when her combat capability was removed. It was based on her appearance in 3D少女カスタムEVO. This went to be her main costume for a while before replaced with the current Costume 1. This concept is also used as the base for Dynasty Warriors 7 Costume 1.
Motherly, White Harlot (Current)
- Soulcalibur V Costume 1 is the debut of this concept, based on カスタムメイド3D2. The lack of longskirt that works with the kimono leave much to be desired.
- Soulcalibur VI Costume 1 is based on her Soulcalibur V Costume 5, which thankfully can emphasize her tattoo well. Color gradients are introduced as the element of her costume, as well as a signature element of a vate's costume.
- Dynasty Warriors 8 is by far the closest to what have in mind. The older version of this Costume 1 was used by Vierge while she obtained a newer one which made her 125% cuter due to her updated short stature.
- Samurai Warriors 4 is the only other with the elaborate kimono, although her outfit isn't spot on, her weapon is spot on, and her hair is just gorgeous.
Mini Spica (Current)
This concept depitch Spica in her youth.
- Soulcalibur V Costume 4 is the debut, but the recent height change to Spica's height made this costume has the same height as her adult self, which is rather odd. The kimono's supposed to be shorter.
- Dynasty Warriors 8 Costume 2, is more accurate. Just imagine the Dual-headed Mace is a pair of water buckets… or vegetable buckets. If you notice, yes, when little, she already had big bosoms.
Disempowered (Current)
This concept depicts Spica's true form when her veil was broken.
- Dynasty Warriors 8 Costume 3 is the debut, aiming for more conservative look than her main costume.
Other Concepts
- Soulcalibur III Costume 3 is a costume that was made for SoulGateway's Halloween contest. She won 3rd place and I decided to include this in her costume lineup.
- Soulcalibur III Costume 4 is a costume called Chevalier Noir which would later evolve as a concept for Vierge, although ultimately it is left unused
- Soulcalibur III Costume 5 is closer to her current version, based on her White Harlot concept. The tambourines, surprisingly, fit well with Xianghua's weapon demonstration.
- Soulcalibur V Costume 3 is a Maiden Shrine Youth outfit. It's a trainee outfit before they are appointed to Seijo (priestess). It was planned that she wears this costume during the events of Memories of the Days Gone by.
- Soulcalibur V Costume 8 is an attempt to create a unique outfit that represents the vate better, but it didn't turn out to be good.
