"The smell of gunpowder follows this young woman, who travels the seven seas in search of the most valuable treasure.
With her eyes full of hope, she sets sail for a better tomorrow. as a defender of the hearts of young maidens"
The Pink Bomber, scourge of Europe, has menaced the waters of the Atlantic for a little under three years now, and is rapidly becoming notorious for her eccentric behavior, namely her reckless and excessive use of cannons and explosives, all-female crew, and habit of kidnapping of handsome men from the ships she attacks.
Young Rosemarie was the daughter of the head of a wealthy merchant group, and all though her childhood she was treated like royalty because of it. Never denied any childish whim, sweets, jewelry, finery, pets, toys, there was nothing beyond her doting father's reach. Sequestered in her family villa, she saw little of the outside world, her only glimpses outside her gilded cage being her conversations with the maids and servants that populated her home. One in particular entranced her, and though their meetings where few and fleeting, she soon found herself seeking him out, arranging clandestine meetings between rich noblewoman and commoner.
When the young man finally revealed their association to her father, begging for her hand in marriage, he was turned away, Rose's father accusing him of trying to marry into the family's wealth and status. Incensed, the young man vowed to one day return with a fortune of his own, to prove to the family he cared only for Rose and nothing for their coin. Seasons passed, and Rosemarie began to dearly miss her old friend, yearning for the days when they had met in secret to speak to each other. When the young man returned, made rich with the gold of Spain and the spices of the new world, she was delighted, and accepted his declaration of love.
The two were wed, with the grudging blessing of her father, but her mother and young sister where suspicious of the young man and his mysterious fortune. They spied upon him, plied him with wine, toasting his marriage, and extracted a confession from him. He had fallen in with pirates during his travels, and taken the gold and spice as his cut after a particularly profitable raid on another vessel. Rosemarie's mother and sister betrayed his secret to the magistrate, who had him dragged from his home in the night, to the gallows where he was hung for his crimes. Heartbroken and horrified, Rose fled her home and treacherous family.
It's unknown what she experienced in the dark years that followed.
Half-remembered lessons of alchemy, chemistry and swordplay were relearned, and refined, and she took up the trade of sailing. Rosemarie not only succeeded in her new trade, but thrived. In the lawless world of piracy, she nursed her heartache, until it turned to resolve, a vow to prevent this pain from ever happening to another. She gathered a crew of women as naive, lovestruck, or heartbroken as she, and set sail in the name of swashbuckling romance.
Although Rose and her crew are nominally pirates, they tend to spend at least as much time 'defending romance' as they do engaging in actual looting. Whether their impassioned 'defense' involves smuggling clandestine lovers to safety, rescuing beautiful maidens from towers, or exposing the deprivations of men or women who have particularly earned Rosemarie's ire varies from one whimsical adventure to the next, but continually exhibits a cheerful disregard for authority and tradition. When Rose and her crew do engage in piracy, they tend to open with a terrifying barrage of cannon-fire intended to cow the other crew into submission before moving in to board and collect their spoils. After raids, noble or handsome men are often invited aboard her flagship, the Herzlich, to be wooed by the amorous young women of the crew before being safely dropped off at the ship's next port of call, potentially with a new bride. Those left behind by these raids due to not meeting the crew's lofty standards tend to exaggerate this consensual arrangement into a nefarious kidnapping, giving a bit of an edge to Pink's reputation, which has slowly grown so outlandish as to soon qualify her as a type of folk hero.
With bright eyes to the future, this young woman sets sail once again for adventure and romance.

Soulcalibur V
Pink was a happy accident, really, thrown together in an evening when I really wanted a pirate character. I used Leixia's style because that was literally all I knew how to play at the start, and that meant I needed a cute girl pirate (Oh nooo~). I kept trying to use costumes with the long-coat and pirate hat, but they all ended up looking relatively same-ish and I eventually gave up and tried a different look. Pink Pirate looked good, but it wasn't until a bit later when I added the bomb that everything really came together. Pink is one of my main characters now, tied with Kamilah, and probably one of my favorite characters, too.
Part of the consequences for Pink being thrown together in one evening is that almost all her body-slider bits are left at the default. As such she feels a little generic at times, especially since she doesn't dress with a ton of flair. I occasionally consider going back and tweaking her bodyshape a little, but it seems a bit late for that. Oh well… I love the heck out of that bomb, though. I wish there was a skull and crossbones sticker.
Of course, all the above doesn't mean I didn't eventually revisit the hat and long coat. Heh Pink looks a bit more mature and serious here, which can be a good thing, I guess, but I think I prefer the more simple and less imposing basic outfit to this one, overall. Pink -can- get serious when the situation demands it, though, so she does own the dramatic cloak and hat for when intimidation value is at a premium.
