The thought behind Nepenthe was to make a knight with an armor color you don't usually see very often, in this case Green. I originally couldn't come up with a plant related name to match with his wife Rafflesia, but Perse was able to provide me with one. In later conceptions he was changed to being a Silver Fox since that felt right for him.

Soulcalibur Series

All games have gotten his color perfectly though Soulcalibur 5 is the closest to my vision in terms of his look which include the much needed Rose Emblem on his cape. Soulcalibur BD however has the perfect hairstyle for him.

Warriors Series

In the case of Dynasty Warriors sadly he feels a bit clumsy since the best moveset for him would be what Guan Ping had back in his introduction in Dynasty Warriors 5 since Nepenthe isn't supposed to look like he has issues swinging his sword.

For Samurai Warriors in original planning of the alpha design he and Blood Knight switched who would wear a cape. Nepenthe originally had a scarf rather than the cape he usually has nowadays, it was uniform for him and his student Janetsa to have a scarf. This could also be seen as his outfit prior to him being a King.
